Theme Verse: But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. (NKJV)
Patience is hard to have, especially in a culture where we can get things instantly or only have to wait a few minutes to get something. But in my opinion, patience is something that everyone needs. Patience helps us handle situations and, in ways, is more efficient than just getting angry and yelling. For example, when a mom yells at her child. That child generally gets angry and goes to his room and doesn't learn anything from the mistake the child made. However, when the mom explains what that child did wrong. That child is calmer and learns from his mistake. To quote Bruce Lee, "Patience is not passive; it is concentrated strength."
In my opinion, when we show restraint, we show strength. Restraint shows that we have the character to handle situations. For example, there are times when I want to tell people to shut their mouth and punch them in the face. But when I show restraint and not do that. It shows that I am mature and that there's a better way to handle something. Ephesians 4: 2 says Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bear with one another in love.
Brothers and sisters, I challenge you to show restraint when you're in a hard situation. Know how to handle that situation and have the patience not to do anything dumb.
