Hard Humility

We live in an age where we love to get our way. We want our plan instead of God's plan. We walk in pride instead of Humility. We think that our way is the better way, and we don't even stop to question if that's true or not. These last few weeks, I've had to face many of these statements. I find myself complaining instead of thanking God for whatever He provided. I also find myself keep reliving past events that already happened and dwelling on those past events, and wishing they didn't end the way they did. This morning at services, I heard the preacher say that we need to walk in Humility, and his sermon came down to four points.

  1. The Humility of Jesus takes Effort.

  2. The Humility of Jesus leads to the Father.

  3. The Humility of Jesus points others to Jesus.

  4. The Humility of Jesus brings Joy.

When we complain, it blinds us from seeing the movement of God. It prevents us from seeing what's he's doing. Some people close to me made some decisions that I didn't like, but God taught me these last couple of weeks that it's okay to disagree with decisions. Regardless of whether we agree with those decisions or think it's best, God is still working. When we walk in Humility, we're choosing to walk in a way that lets God lead us. When we let God lead us, it leads to this Joy that the Father provides.

It takes Effort, and at times it can seem that every little thing is against us or made political. People keep telling me in ministry that some people want things to be political. They will attack you for every little thing you do, especially if they disagree with it. I've heard all these stories about how some guy did this or how someone in the church made something a big deal when it didn't need to be. After a while, it gets depressing. I hear people critiquing sermons instead of trying to get the message. I listen to people saying that the service should be done this way or that way. I keep hearing Christians bury other Christians. Church, this has to stop. Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ walked in Humility, so we should do the same thing. Maybe you are mad about how a coworker acted. Perhaps you are angry at the fact that someone was ungrateful about a gift you got them. Brothers and Sisters, regardless of the reason, don't let pride blind you. Always be willing to walk in Humility.
