The Grinch was trying to impress his teacher and was also trying to fit in. This is something that a lot of people struggle with. All the Grinch was looking for was acceptance; instead, he only found rejection. The Psycho dynamic Perspective originating in the work of Sigmund Freud, emphasizes unconscious psychological processes, and contends that childhood experiences are crucial in shaping adult personality (Bornstein, 2020). This is part of why the Grinch hated Christmas so much he had a bad memory associated with it, and when someone has a bad memory with something, it tends to make that person hate that day or whatever triggers the memory.

Neo-Freudians like Adler, Erikson, Jung, and Horney generally agreed with Freud that childhood experiences matter and help shape people into the adults they become (Lumen, 2020). The video clip indicated that the Grinch was super excited about Christmas and was eager to impress his teacher. However, since even his teacher laughed at him, it forever changed him.

As Christians, it is essential to be inclusive and not exclusive. When Christians exclude people or tease people about how they look or how they act, it does a lot of harm, and in extreme cases, it can even cause people not to want to become a Christian or to follow Christ at all. To quote Gandhi, “I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.” If one looks at who Jesus was, that person will find that Jesus was someone who hangs out with tax collectors, zealots, fishermen, in other words, the lowest people in society at that time. As Christians, it is essential to realize that followers of Christ are called to do the same thing now. Christians are called to act like Jesus and hang out and include all the Grinches of the world and make them feel loved and part of a family. In conclusion, Christians are supposed to love and include others, not tear others down.
